How does Alara work?
Alara uses a patented antenna technology that works in harmony with your phone to redirect radiation away from the head and body. Highly conductive silver elements aligned with the phone’s antennas change the phone’s electromagnetic field spatial pattern to reduce how much radiation is absorbed by the body.
What is EMF?
Mobile devices communicate by transmitting and receiving encoded radiofrequency (RF) signals, a form of electromagnetic field (EMF) – also commonly referred to as cell phone radiation.
Is cellphone radiation harmful?
There is a growing body of evidence that exposure to radiofrequency EMF has negative health effects for humans, including impacts on the brain and fertility. You can read more about the current science here https://www.propublica.org/article/what-to-know-about-cellphone-radiation
Who is Alara Tech?
Atom Studios partnered with Alara Technologies to embed Alara radiation reduction technology in our cases. Alara Technologies has I.P. and developed technology that protects mobile device users from potentially harmful RF radiation. Alara has 16 US Patents and 7 Worldwide patents on antenna technology for reducing exposure to radiation.
How do I know its working?
You cannot see or usually feel cellphone radiation. But Alara has gone through rigorous internal laboratory testing and independent certified testing to prove that is reducing exposure to RF. Alara quantifies radiation reduction by measuring SAR (Specific Absorption Rate).
Even though you can’t feel cellphone radiation directly, you may experience improved brain health, increased fertility and better sleep from reducing your exposure.
How is Alara tested?
Alara undergoes rigorous laboratory testing. Radiation exposure is measured with a state-of-the-art SAR test system (https://www.speag.com/products/csar3d/ ). Cellphone signal is measured in a wireless test chamber similar to those used by carriers to test cell phones on their network.
What is SAR?
SAR stands for Specific Absorption Rate and is a metric used in the cellphone industry for quantifying the rate at which cellphone radiation is absorbed by the human body. In the United States, the Federal Communication Commission (FCC) sets the limit for public exposure to wireless energy at a SAR level of 1.6 W/kg (watts per kilogram), averaged over 1 gram of body tissue.
A phone's SAR level must not exceed 1.6 watts per kilogram to be sold in the United States and receive certification from the FCC.
How much does it reduce my exposure?
Atom x Alara cases reduce your exposure to cellphone radiation (or SAR) by up to 75%.
Will my signal strength be impacted?
There are many products on the market that claim to reduce your exposure to cell phone radiation by either shielding or blocking cellphone radiation. They will significantly reduce the signal strength and ironically may actually cause your phone to work harder and emit more RF energy, and drain your battery faster. Alara is not a shield or blocker – it works in harmony with your phone, your signal and battery life will not be degraded.
Will it work with my wireless carrier?
Alara has been tested on all cell phone bands used by mobile network operators in the USA, Canada and Mexico.
Will it work outside of North America?
Alara has been optimized for use on North American cell phone bands, but will also operate on most international bands.
Does Alara offer any protection if you carry your phone in your pocket?
In accordance with device manufacturer warnings we recommend not keeping your cell phone on or near your body, including in your pocket, even with Alara. But if you choose to put your phone in your pocket, place the screen side closest to your body for maximum exposure reduction.
Is Alara compatible with MagSafe®?
Yes. The Alara products are compatible with MagSafe and MagSafe accessories.
Is Alara compatible with wireless charging?
Yes. The Alara products are compatible with wireless charging.
What is Agave Leather?
Agave is the the name of our vegan leather material. It is sustainably sourced from cacti grown in Mexico. It is silky smooth and soft and is a great alternative to animal leathers.
How is Agave Leather made?
Our cactus leather is sourced from a farm in Mexico. The cacti are harvested and converted into the leather-like material branded as ‘Desserto’ using a patented manufacturing process. Their 14 acre cactus farm is fully organic and absorbs 8,100 tons of CO2 each year, as cactus is a natural carbon sink.
How do I clean Agave leather?
You can clean your Agave Leather product with a damp cloth.
How does Agave leather wear?
Agave leather is as durable as typical leather and wears with a soft leather-like feel.
What does the Agave material feel like?
The fine grain finish of Agave is silky smooth to the touch and nearly indecipherable from animal-based leathers.
